WADE W. WEISSMANN
AIA, NCARB

As the founder and principal of WWA, Wade has carved out a niche for clients desiring heirloom design that is worthy of being passed down from generation to generation. Known by friends, colleagues and clients for his incomparable design intuition, Wade’s talent and aesthetic sensibilities are matched only by his inherent warmth, integrity, and passion for life. Wade earned his undergraduate degree in architecture from the University of Wisconsin and his Master of Science in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. ERIC SLAVIN
AIA, NCARB
Lead Design Architect

With over twenty-five years of experience in the field of architecture, Eric has spent the last thirteen years at WWA crafting heirloom estates and personal residences in which our clients can grow, rejuvenate, and truly thrive.  In his own words, “It is such an honor when clients welcome us into their private lives to design their places of refuge.  In doing so, they have entrusted us with not only their well-being, but also that of their loved ones.  I love knowing that, when we get the design right, the home that we crafted will be loved for generations to come.”

Having earned his Bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University and his Masters of Architecture from the University of Virginia, Eric garners architectural inspiration from travel, art and gardening.  In addition to spending time with his family, Eric enjoys painting, architectural craftwork, reading, yoga and church activities.

SUSAN HARRINGTON
Senior Studio Manager

A native of Texas, Susan brings to the table over twenty-five years of architectural experience in urban design, commercial and high-end residential work. With a focus on staffing, effective team management and creative problem solving, Susan enjoys nothing more than being challenged to interpret a client’s needs and dreams so that she might empower her teams to convert those goals into a built reality.

Susan graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture. When not in the office, she enjoys hanging out with her husband and their three children, and participating in a variety of community service projects.

TOM WYNN
Studio Director

While Tom’s diverse portfolio, includes notable institutional works ranging from a contemporary landmark subterranean performing arts venue to an historic elite social club, his passion and primary focus lie in high-end residential architecture. Like portraiture, his work skillfully synthesizes the complex and dynamic personalities, lifestyles and dreams of his clients into a coherent and stylish reflection of who they are. With over twenty years in the industry, Tom believes that the best project is only as good as its worst detail, and that perfection is achieved through an intentional, practical and systematic approach yielding a whole greater than the sum of its parts.

Tom earned his Bachelor of Architecture from the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning at the University of Cincinnati and is a member of the AIA, NCARB and the ICAA. He is a black belt of mixed martial arts and enjoys hiking in national parks and walking his dog, Daisy. Like most architects, Tom likes to believe he has a sense of humor.

JEREMY HARTLINE
Studio Manager

With over twenty years of architectural experience, Jeremy specializes in the design, detailing and construction administration of residential architecture in all of its forms, including luxury homes, sensitive additions, and remodeling projects of all varieties. For Jeremy, there is no greater pleasure than collaborating with our clients to create spaces that are unique, alluring, lasting and comfortable.

Having earned his degree in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Jeremy is an active member of AIA, and enjoys serving as an advising member of Port Washington Design Review Board.

TRACEY BREWER
Senior Design Associate

Having acknowledged a ‘calling’ toward the creation of beauty, Tracey considers it an immense honor to collaborate with both clients and colleagues on the formation of memorable places. “I truly believe that the aesthetics of our environments are essential to our overall sense of well-being.” she says. “I’m invigorated by the constraints that inevitably arise with each project, because each one offers me a chance to seek out a way to ‘make it work’.”

Tracey attended Calvin College, earned both a Bachelors of Architectural Science and Masters of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and was awarded the Edward C. Earl Prize for her design thesis, “Half Open, Half Closed.” Tracey is thankful for the whole-hearted partnership of her husband, James, as they raise their two children in the city of Chicago.

MATTHEW CUMMINGS
Senior Design Associate

Having spent over a decade in his professional career focusing on high-end residential work throughout the country, Matt has been recognized by both clients and colleagues for his ability to foster a positive and collaborative working environment while facilitating complex projects. His continued desire to create a special ‘sense of place,’ coupled with a passion for details, led Matt to WWA, where he was instrumental in establishing our firm’s Chicago office in early 2016.

During his time at the University of Notre Dame, Matt spent his third year studying in Rome, designed an award-winning thesis for a library for the blind, and completed a minor in furniture design. A member of the American Institute of Architects, Matt enjoys art and its history, woodworking, and both graphic and product design.

DUANE KLECZEWSKI
Senior Design Associate

With over 20 years’ experience in bespoke, luxury residential architecture, as well as in civic and commercial projects, Duane is highly regarded by colleagues and clients alike for his well detailed, thoughtful approach to design. His passion for the collaborative process is evident as he works alongside clients, designers, craftsmen and contractors to skillfully coordinate every single detail of highly complex, incredibly nuanced projects.

While working to earn his Bachelor of Architecture degree at the University of Notre Dame, Duane was granted the opportunity to study in Rome, Italy, and to be inspired by its history, beauty and architectural significance. When he’s not in the office, he enjoys woodworking, gardening, cooking, and drawing, as well as finding any excuse to engage in creative activities with his wife and son.

SERVICES

ARCHITECTURE

The cornerstone of our practice, our custom architecture work, spans homes, equestrian estates, cabins, commercial design and master planning. Our approach is decidedly hands-on and interactive, as we begin each round of work in conversations with our clients about the ultimate experience and impact they’re looking to achieve.

From this starting point, our initial work is often imagined by hand, using sketching and rendering techniques that harken back to earlier eras of architecture. As a project enters the computer modeling phase, our teams continue to layer in architectural detail that creates the character expected in great architecture, from the smallest detail on a stairway to the millwork featured all throughout a particular room.

Embedded within our process is the belief that client service is paramount. Eschewing the stereotypes of high-end architecture, our teams are notably down-to-earth and focused on the needs of our clients.

MASTER PLANNING

For larger projects, Wade Weissmann Architecture offers an array of master planning services. Our past master planning work has spanned residential and commercial developments in partnership with our clients, engineers, landscape architects and general contractors.

BESPOKE RENOVATIONS

We are passionate about assisting clients in the realization of new possibilities for existing properties. Wade Weissmann Architecture provides a complete suite of renovation capabilities, from property survey, code and restriction analysis, architectural design, to community committee approval through construction management. As in our core architectural services, we believe client services and a dedication to the architectural detail of a project are critical to a project’s successful outcome.

ILLUSTRATION STUDIO

Through a combination of 3D computer modeling and mixed media artist renderings, our gifted team of architects develop detailed sketches and illustrations that are often utilized not only by our office, but also by noted interior designers and premier developers. OUR CULTURE

At WWA, we are committed not only to designing architecture that is unique and timeless, but also to a professional process by which our team members can truly develop and grow in their unique talents and strengths.  At every creative turn, we welcome all manners of collaboration, so that each of us might be granted the opportunity to serve as both mentor and pupil.

Beyond being good stewards of the geographical areas in which we live and work, we encourage and provide opportunities for our team members to play an active role within the community at large. WWA supports local artists and trades, hosts cross-cultural events at our offices and encourages professional licensure as well as continuing education. Staff members lead monthly drawing and painting excursions, present mentoring lunch workshops, and share inspiration from our travels. WWA employees are active participating members at the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, the American Institute of Architects and a wide range of local organizations.
