Often, early in the design process, after walking the site and listening to our clients share their dreams for their new home, we can quite quickly imagine what the final built project might look like. Sketching is a way of communicating the vision our designers have in their minds to those who will be inhabiting these special places. The sketch is a rough gesture that can capture the essence of the design concept and be used as a roadmap through the development of the design.
Although our team is well equipped with the latest computer software and 3-D capabilities that we use in later phases, we feel that nothing can capture the connection to the building as well as a pencil on paper. At the completion of the project, we always chuckle when our clients say to us, “The final pictures look just like the rendering sketches!”
Below is a glimpse into our sketchbook collections from over the years.
