ARCHITECT’S RETREAT
On a very pristine and private lake in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, our goal was to create a personal retreat. We stumbled upon an old resort that had been operating for sixty years as a fishing camp for a prominent fishing guide. The existing cabins along the shore were grandfathered, and we used those as the inspiration for the master plan: three rustic but luxurious cabins nestled along the shoreline, surrounded by exquisitely landscaped recreational areas.
Excellent ‘camp’ architecture was the style that fueled our design, utilizing indigenous materials like river rock and timber, as well as knotty pine for the interiors. Adirondack-inspired detailing was used throughout, thereby creating a cozy, one-of-a-kind compound that would serve as the ultimate Northwoods experience.
